Charlie Evans Weir has been owner and proprietor of Black Hills Celtic Shop
for over five years. The Shop is pan-Celtic in focus, providing goods from
Scotland, Ireland, Wales and Cornwall. After years of making contacts with
Welsh firms and providing Welsh goods at his business and on the Web, he
decided to start a Website to showcase Welsh culture and supply Welsh goods,
for the North American Diaspora, with the blessing of the Welsh Assembly and
several Welsh manufacturers.
Charlie is also well-known in the area, as a lecturer on
Celtic culture and history, and is active in area Celtic events. He has
served as an officer
in various groups and is presently the President of
Dakota Celts, an area pan-Celtic
heritage group.
Charlie has made sporrans, ysgrepans and other traditional leather goods as
a hobby, and has published collections of Celtic recipes. He and wife, Rose McCarty, are
avid cooks. Both are also avid single malt enthusiasts, and Charlie counts a rare
bottle of Penderyn Welsh whiskey among his favourites.
